Prince Albert Friedrich of Thurn and Taxis (1930-2021)

Prince Albert Friedrich of Thurn and Taxis died on 17 July 2021. The prince was ninety-one years-old. His burial took place on 30 July at Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

Born on 5 July 1930 at Schloss Prüfening, Prince Albert Friedrich Maria Lamoral Kilian of Thurn and Taxis was the first child and only son of Prince Philipp Ernst of Thurn and Taxis (1908-1964) and Princess Eulalia of Thurn and Taxis (1908-1993), who wed in 1929. Prince Albert had two younger sisters: Princess Margarete "Daisy" of Thurn and Taxis (1933-2019) and Princess Antonia "Toni" of Thurn and Taxis (b.1936). In 1962, Prince Albert Friedrich married Baroness Alexandra von der Ropp (1932-2018); the couple did not have children.

Princess Tatjana of Schaumburg-Lippe (1962-2021)

Yesterday, Fürst Alexander of Schaumburg-Lippe was saddened to announce the death of his first cousin, Princess Tatjana. The princess died on the morning of Monday, 2 August 2021, at a clinic in Bavaria. She was fifty-eight years-old and had been ill with liver cancer.

Princess Tatjana-Sybille Viktoria Juliane of Schaumburg-Lippe was born on 13 November 1962 at Bielefeld. Tatjana was the second child and only daughter of Prince Konstantin of Schaumburg-Lippe (1930-2008) and his first wife Sigrid Knape (1929-1997), who wed in 1956. Tatjana has an older brother, Prince York (b.1960). She also has a younger brother, Oliver (b.1988), from her father and his second wife Petra Maass.

An art advisor, the princess was a resident of Munich. Princess Tatjana is survived by her brothers, her aunt Princess Viktoria Luise, and her numerous cousins.

The Duke of Aosta, Ambassador of SMOM, Receives Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs

On 27 July, Sergey Vershinin, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, was received by a delegation of the Order of Malta led by Ambassador Stefano Ronca, Secretary General for Foreign Affairs. The meeting took place in the Magistral Villa at Rome.
Numerous topics were addressed during the talks, which were held in an atmosphere of great cordiality. The topics discussed included the situation in the Middle East, that in North Africa, the phenomenon of migration, and the relations between the Russian Federation with the United States and the European Union.
During the meeting, the figure of Tsar Paul I, Grand Master of the Order of Malta between 1798 and 1801 and the moments in history that bind the Order of Malta to Russia were remembered. The intention was also reiterated to celebrate in 2022 the thirtieth anniversary of diplomatic relations that were established in 1992.
Currently, the Order of Malta in Russia runs social activities for needy and homeless families in Moscow and St. Petersburg; this work has been made even more essential in the light of the coronavirus pandemic crisis.
Another theme of the meeting is the possible participation of the Order of Malta in the "World Conference on Intercultural and Interreligious Dialogue: Working Together for Peace and Humanity" scheduled in St. Petersburg in May 2022. The exhibition on the Holy Shroud that will be inaugurated in Moscow next autumn thanks to the support of the Order of Malta in Germany.
The meeting was attended by the respective ambassadors, Alexander Avdeev for the Russian side and Prince Aimone of Savoy, Duke of Aosta, for the Sovereign Order of Malta. Also present was the Ambassador of the Order of Malta to the Holy See, Antonio Zanardi Landi.

The 20th Birthday of Hereditary Prince Nicodemus zu Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg

Today, Hereditary Prince Nicodemus zu Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg turns twenty years-old.

Born on 2 August 2001 at Oslo, Norway, Prince Nicodemus Hieronymus Alois Georg Hubertus Mario Hugo Eusebius Maria zu Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg was the second child and first son of the late Hereditary Prince Carl Friedrich zu Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg (1966-2010) and his wife Baroness Stephanie von Brenken (b.1970), who wed in 1998. Nicodemus has an older sister and two younger siblings: Princess Augustina (b.1999), Prince Laurentius (b.2006), and Princess Kiliana (b.2008).

Hereditary Prince Carl Friedrich "Leo" zu Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg died in a tragic car racing accident on 24 April 2010. Upon his death, his eight year-old eldest son Nicodemus became Hereditary Prince and eventual heir to his grandfather Fürst Aloys-Konstantin zu Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg.

The Golden Wedding Anniversary of Jaroslav & Elisabeth Lobkowicz

Today, Fürst Jaroslav and Fürstin Elisabeth Lobkowicz celebrate fifty years of marriage. On 29 July 1971 at Chebry-en-Sereine, then Hereditary Prince Jaroslav Lobkowicz (b.1942) and Elisabeth de Vienne (b.1947) were married. Jaroslav was the son of Fürst Jaroslav von Lobkowicz (1910-1985) and Countess Gabrielle von Korff gen. Schmising-Kerssenbrock 1917-2008). Elisabeth was the daughter of "Guy"  de Vienne and Geneviève Mouchet. Fürst Jaroslav and Fürstin Elisabeth have three sons: Hereditary Prince Vladimir (b.1972), Prince Jaroslav (b.1974), and Prince Philippe (b.1981).

The 70th Birthday of Princess Lorraine of Bourbon-Parma

Today, Princess Lorraine of Bourbon-Parma celebrates her seventieth birthday.

Born on 27 July 1951 at Roskilde, Princess Lorraine Charlotte Tatjana Ebba Johanna Maria Antonia Josephine Renée of Bourbon-Parma was the second child and only daughter of Prince Jacques of Bourbon-Parma (1922-1964) and Countess Birgitte af Holstein-Ledreborg (1922-2009), who married in 1947. Lorraine has two brothers: Prince Philipp (b.1949) and Prince Alain (b.1955). In May 1991, Princess Lorraine of Bourbon-Parma participated in Icelandic Horse Week.
