Two New Medical Doctors of Royal Descent: Mirko of Bulgaria and Charles Crépy

Dr. Mirko Sajonia-Coburgo

Prince Mirko of Bulgaria (b.1995), the son of Prince Kubrat of Bulgaria, himself the third son of King Simeon II of Bulgaria and Queen Margarita, and of Princess Carla (née Royo-Villanova y Urrestarazu), recently received his MD from the Universidad de Navarre. Known as Mirko Sajonia-Coburgo, the prince completed rotations at the Royal Brompton Hospital in London, where Mirko focused on thoracic surgery. Prince Mirko has also dedicated his time as a volunteer with the Sovereign Military Order of Malta (SMOM).

Dr. Charles Crépy

Monsieur Charles Crépy (b.1996), the son of Princess Clotilde d'Orléans, herself the daughter of Prince Michel d'Orléans, Count of Évreux, and Princess Béatrice (née Pasquier de Franclieu), and of Monsieur Edouard Crépy, recently obtained his MD from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Charles Crépy had previously studied Molecular and Cellular Biology at John Hopkins University in Maryland. Charles is the great-grandson of Prince Henri and Princess Isabelle d'Orléans, the Count and Countess of Paris.

King Louis Philippe I and Queen Marie-Amélie of the French

Mirko of Bulgaria and Charles Crépy are fifth cousins once removed. Their common descent is from King Louis Philippe of the French (1773-1850) and Queen Marie-Amélie (1782-1866; née Bourbon-Two Sicilies).

Prince August Ludwig and Princess Clémentine of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha

Mirko is a great-great-great grandson of Princess Clémentine d'Orléans, who married Prince August Ludwig of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha: Clémentine and August Ludwig were the parents of King Ferdinand of Bulgaria, the great-great grandfather of Prince Mirko.

Charles Crépy is a great-great-great-great grandson of Prince Ferdinand d'Orléans, Duke d'Orléans, who married Duchess Helene of Mecklenburg-Schwerin: Ferdinand and Helene were the grandparents of Prince Jean d'Orléans, Duke of Guise, who married his first cousin Princess Isabelle d'Orléans. Jean and Isabelle were the parents of Charles Crépy's great-grandfather, Prince Henri, Count of Paris, who married Princess Isabelle of Orléans-Braganza: Henri and Isabelle were the grandparents of Charles' mother Princess Clotilde.
