On Saturday, 30 July 2022, Hereditary Prince Pál-Antal Esterházy von Galántha and Franziska von Reutter celebrated their religious marriage. 

Born in 1986, Hereditary Prince Pál-Antal Esterházy von Galántha is the only child of Fürst Anton Esterházy von Galántha (b.1936) and Ursula Koenig (b.1941). Born in 1989, Franziska von Reutter is the daughter of Georg von Reutter (b.1954) and Joanna Doubleday (b.1954). Hereditary Princess Franziska Esterházy von Galántha is a descendant of Archduke Johann of Austria and Anna Maria Josephine Plochl (created Countess von Meran).

50 Years Since the Marriage of Crown Prince Alexander of Serbia & Princess Maria da Gloria of Orléans and Braganza

The engagement announcement in the Daily Telegraph of 21 December 1971.

On 1 July 1972, Crown Prince Alexander of Yugoslavia and Princess Maria da Gloria of Orléans and Bragança were married at Villamanrique de la Condesa, Spain. The couple's engagement had been announced on 20 December 1971 by a spokesman of the prince in London. Alexander and Maria da Gloria met at a party given by Maria's Tante Bebelle (the Countess of Paris) in Cascais; it was love at first sight.

Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Maria da Gloria of Yugoslavia during their religious union. Behind the princess one can see Prince Regent Paul of Yugoslavia.

Born in 1945, Crown Prince Alexander was the only child of King Peter II of Yugoslavia (1923-1970) and Queen Alexandra (1921-1993; née Princess of Greece). Educated in Switzerland, the United States, and the United Kingdom, Alexander was a lieutenant in the British army with the Queen's Royal Lancers, with whom he did a tour in Northern Ireland. The crown prince was a godson of Queen Elizabeth II. Born in 1946, Princess Maria da Gloria was the daughter of Prince Pedro Gastão of Orléans and Bragança (1913-2007) and Princess Esperanza (1914-2005; née Princess of Bourbon-Two Sicilies). Maria da Gloria had studied interior design in Paris, and was working as an interior decorator in Madrid.

Over the weekend, a much awaited princely wedding took place in Germany. On Friday, 3 June, Prince Gustav of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg and Carina Axelsson were civilly married at Bad Berleburg. The prince and princess celebrated their religious wedding on Saturday, 4 June, at the Evangelical Church of Castle Berleburg. Among the guests for the religious union were Princess Benedikte of Denmark, Princess Alexandra of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg with her children, Princess Madeleine of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg (Countess of Solms-Laubach by marriage), Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, Prince Joachim and Princess Marie of Denmark, Prince Stephan and Princess Maria of Lippe, Hereditary Prince Franz Albrecht and Hereditary Princess Cleopatra of Oettingen-Spielberg, Hereditary Prince Hubertus and Hereditary Princess Kelly of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, and Fürstin Cecilia of Waldeck and Pyrmont.

An Upcoming Wedding in the Princely House of Croÿ

Prince Emmanuel de Croÿ-Collalto and Olimpia Franzan are to marry in July 2022.

Born in 1990 at Uccle, Belgium, Prince Emanuel Manfredo Juste de Croÿ was the first child and only son of Prince Guillaume de Croÿ (b.1950) and Countess Isabella von Collalto und San Salvatore (b.1960), who married in Venice in 1989. Emanuel's paternal grandparents are Prince Emmanuel de Croÿ (1908-1997) and Countess Nicole de Marnix de Sainte-Aldegonde (1919-2011). His maternal grandparents are Fürst Manfred von Collalto und San Salvatore (b.1932) and Maria de la Trinidad Castillo y Moreno (b.1937). Emanuel was followed by a younger sister Princess Violette (b.1995). He works in investment banking in London.

Olimpia Franzan is the daughter of Jacopo "Jacobo" Franzan (b.1961) and Laura Cristiana dei contei Cibrario (b.1964). Olimpia has an older brother, Roberto, and a younger sister, Malvina. Olimpia's maternal grandparents are Nobile Carlo dei conte Cibrario (b.1932) and Maria Donatella Leonetti dei contei di San Janni (b.1940). Through her mother, Olimpia Franzan is a descendant of numerous Italian noble families. She works in marketing in London.

Prince Philippos and Princess Nina of Greece Marry in Athens!

Today, 23 October, Prince Philippos of Greece and Denmark and Princess Nina (née Flohr) celebrated their religious wedding at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens. One hundred guests were invited to be present in the Cathedral. Archbishop Ieronymos II of Athens and All Greece officiated over the ceremony, which began at 5:00pm. The crowd gathered outside of the cathedral cheered for Queen Sofía and Princess Irene, King Constantine and Prince Constantine, Queen Anne-Marie and Prince Philippos, and Princess Nina and Thomas Flohr upon their respective arrivals. In a touching scene, the king, who was in a wheel chaired pushed by his grandson, was helped to stand in order to greet the Archbishop. Prince Philippos arrived on the arm of his mother Queen Anne-Marie, who wore her pearl and diamond cross necklace. Princess Nina, wearing a Chanel wedding gown and the Greek Corsage Tiara, arrived on the arm of her father Thomas Flohr. The princess carried a bouquet of peonies.

December 2020: Prince Philippos of Greece and Nina Flohr Wed (Civilly) in Switzerland

Prince Philippos and Princess Nina of Greece to Wed Religiously Next Month!

 

In delightful news from the Greek royal family, many reports indicate that Prince Philippos of Greece and Denmark and his wife Princess Nina (née Flohr) will celebrate their religious wedding in October 2021. The couple were civilly married at St Moritz, Switzerland, on 12 December 2020. It is believed that the prince and princess might hold their religious wedding at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens. The last couple wedding to occur in the cathedral was that of Philippos's parents, King Constantine II of Greece and Queen Anne-Marie, who wed in 1964. Construction of the Cathedral began on Christmas Day 1842 with the laying of the cornerstone by King Otto I of Greece (né Bavaria) and Queen Amalia.

Forty years ago today, on 30 August 1981, Prince Ernst August of Hannover and Chantal Hochuli celebrated their religious wedding at Schloß Marienburg. The couple were civilly married on 28 August 1981 at Pattensen.

Born on 26 February 1954 at Hannover, Prince Ernst August Albert Otto Rupprecht Oskar Berthold Friedrich-Ferdinand Christian-Ludwig of Hannover was the first son and second child of Prince Ernst August of Hannover (1914-1987) and his first wife Princess Ortrud of Schleswig-Holstein (1925-1980). Born on 2 June 1955 at Zürich, Chantal Hochuli was the daughter of Johann Gustav Hochuli (1912-?) and his wife Rosmarie Lembeck (1921-2011).
