Prince Philippos and Princess Nina of Greece Marry in Athens!

Today, 23 October, Prince Philippos of Greece and Denmark and Princess Nina (née Flohr) celebrated their religious wedding at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens. One hundred guests were invited to be present in the Cathedral. Archbishop Ieronymos II of Athens and All Greece officiated over the ceremony, which began at 5:00pm. The crowd gathered outside of the cathedral cheered for Queen Sofía and Princess Irene, King Constantine and Prince Constantine, Queen Anne-Marie and Prince Philippos, and Princess Nina and Thomas Flohr upon their respective arrivals. In a touching scene, the king, who was in a wheel chaired pushed by his grandson, was helped to stand in order to greet the Archbishop. Prince Philippos arrived on the arm of his mother Queen Anne-Marie, who wore her pearl and diamond cross necklace. Princess Nina, wearing a Chanel wedding gown and the Greek Corsage Tiara, arrived on the arm of her father Thomas Flohr. The princess carried a bouquet of peonies.

The Greek royal family was in full attendance: King Constantine II and Queen Anne-Marie, Crown Prince Pavlos and Crown Princess Marie-Chantal, Princess Olympia and the Hon. Peregrine Pearson, Prince Constantine-Alexois, Prince Achileas-Andreas, Prince Odyseus Kimon, Prince Aristidis-Stavros, Princess Alexia and her husband Carlos Morales and their children, Prince Nikolaos and Princess Tatiana, Princess Theodora, and Prince Michael with Princess Marina.

The religious marriage of the prince and princess was followed by a reception at the National Gymnastics Association, hosted by the groom's father King Constantine II of Greece.

December 2020: Prince Philippos of Greece and Nina Flohr Wed (Civilly) in Switzerland

Prince Philippos and Princess Nina of Greece to Wed Religiously Next Month!

 

In delightful news from the Greek royal family, many reports indicate that Prince Philippos of Greece and Denmark and his wife Princess Nina (née Flohr) will celebrate their religious wedding in October 2021. The couple were civilly married at St Moritz, Switzerland, on 12 December 2020. It is believed that the prince and princess might hold their religious wedding at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens. The last couple wedding to occur in the cathedral was that of Philippos's parents, King Constantine II of Greece and Queen Anne-Marie, who wed in 1964. Construction of the Cathedral began on Christmas Day 1842 with the laying of the cornerstone by King Otto I of Greece (né Bavaria) and Queen Amalia.

The Office of HM King Constantine II of Greece has released the following happy news: 

Their Majesties King Constantine and Queen Anne-Marie are delighted to announce the engagement of their youngest son, Prince Philippos, to Nina Nastassja Flohr, daughter of Thomas Flohr and Katharina Flohr. Nina and Philippos were engaged on the island of Ithaca, in Greece early this summer. The details of their wedding will be released in due course.

On her Instagram account, Nina wrote: “My dearest Philippos. I love you today, I will love you tomorrow and forever. You make us happier, better and stronger. I cannot wait to spend the rest of our lives together.”

Philippos is the third son and youngest child of HM King Constantine II and Queen Anne-Marie of the Hellenes (née Denmark). The prince was born at London on 26 April 1986. Philippos joined four older siblings: Princess Alexia (b.1965), Crown Prince Pavlos (b.1967), Prince Nikolaos (b.1969), and Princess Theodora (b.1983).

On 10 July 1986, Prince Philippos was baptised into the Greek Orthodox faith at St Sophia's Cathedral in London. Among his godparents were his uncle King Juan Carlos of Spain, his first cousin twice removed the Duke of Edinburgh, the Princess of Wales, his aunt Princess Benedikte of Denmark, and his first cousin Infanta Elena of Spain.

Philippos of Greece was raised in London; he visited Greece for the first time in 1993. As part of his primary education, the prince attended the Hellenic School at London, which was founded by his parents. Philippos went on to study Foreign Service at Georgetown University in Washington, DC; he graduated from Georgetown in 2008 with his bachelors.

The prince lives in New York City. Since 2014, Philippos has worked as an analyst for Ortelius Capital, "an alternative investment group specializing in hedge funds and private equity." Prince Philippos of Greece and Denmark has been in a relationship with Nina Nastassja Jade Flohr (b.22 January 1987), the only child of Swiss billionaire Thomas Flohr, founder of VistaJet, and his ex-wife Katharina Konečný. Philippos and Nina attended the wedding of Princess Eugenie of York and Mr Jack Brooksbank in 2018.
