I was the granddaughter of a king. My mother counted among her siblings the spouses of several reigning monarchs. To marry my husband I made a mad dash across Europe. I married a man who was the head of his house. My husband's suspect birth started a tradition at subsequent royal births. Who am I and who was my husband?
The answer will be revealed on Wednesday.
I am Maria Clementina Sobieska (1702-1735). My husband was Prince James Francis Edward Stuart (1688-1766), the Jacobite heir who was known as the "Old Pretender."
